Sedimentation and Adsorption

Surface water from traffic area runoff is often heavily polluted and must be thoroughly treated before it can be discharged into storage/infiltration systems to protect the groundwater. Handling polluted surface water from traffic areas is a great responsibility. The adsorption systems separate washed-up solids, particle-bound pollutants, dissolved heavy metals and light liquids such as oil from stormwater and reliably retain these substances in the system.

Multi-step treatment system

High-performance treatment systems generally feature a multi-step design and use different mechanisms to treat the polluted stormwater.

Depending on the design, the systems are comprised of a start shaft, a target shaft, and the sedimentation path. Coarse particles are retained in the start shaft, and fine particles are retained in the downstream sedimentation path. The flow separator prevents remobilisation and therefore discharge of sediment even during heavy rain. Dissolved pollutants such as heavy metals and light liquids are adsorbed in the substrate cartridges (adsorption).

All FRÄNKISCHE substrator systems operate with SediSorp plus (substrate cartridge) which has been specifically designed for the growing demands on adsorption substrates. Over the year, heavy metals are collected and retained in the adsorption substrate.
