Absolutely. We actively approach the challenges and requirements of e-mobility and look into the future in a solution-oriented way. The mobility of the future has played an important role in FRÄNKISCHE Industrial Pipes for many years. We do not take your safety precautions lightly and support you with our reliable, individually tailored medium-conducting systems as well as with our different protection systems for high-voltage applications and line systems used in electric and hybrid vehicles. The versatile product range of FRÄNKISCHE Industrial Pipes includes customer-specific fluid systems, e.g., effective systems for battery and component temperature control, appropriate protection systems in orange signal color for the identification of high-voltage lines as well as a matching range of accessories. For some years, FRÄNKISCHE Industrial Pipes has exhibited at the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) in Wolfsburg, the leading trade fair for the automotive and automotive supplier industry. This trade fair, which takes place every two years, is always a fixed date in our trade fair planning. Q: What are the advantages of 48-volt on-board electrical systems?

An ever-increasing number of electronically controlled systems such as climate control units, safety assistants, or communication systems, coupled with the demand to reduce CO2 emissions, take 12-volt on-board electrical systems to their limits. A second voltage level can be of advantage, since it allows increasing the power volume by more than four times. However, increasing the on-board electrical system voltage to 48 volts may cause some new hazards such as the emergence of overvoltages and electric arcs. FRÄNKISCHE Industrial Pipes has adapted its products to the new safety aspects of the 48-volt technology and had them tested by accredited testing bodies. Depending on the requirements, corrugated tubes, protective hoses, and mats made of a great variety of materials provide protection against abrasion, crash effects, high temperatures, or even electric influences.

The applications of medium-conducting systems in the automotive industry are extremely diverse: e.g., in and at the fuel tank, for ventilation systems, windshield washer systems, and headlight washer systems. From a simple medium-conducting line to a completely assembled unit of the most varied complexity – we provide it all. It goes without saying that high-quality systems guarantee reliable transport of all kinds of liquids – no matter how challenging the circumstances are. No, unfortunately, there is no catalog with an overview of our products in this area. This is mainly due to the fact that these products are specifically designed upon customer request and often developed and adapted together with the customer. Our sales department is your competent partner for individual requests. Although there is no catalog, our download area provides some product descriptions and brochures on different products.

Q: What does thermal management in electromobility mean?

The life of the highly sensitive batteries in electric and hybrid vehicles depends crucially on a constant operating temperature between +15 °C and +35 °C. To maintain this temperature range, FRÄNKISCHE Industrial Pipes develops and manufactures battery temperature control systems according to customer requirements. Lithium-ion batteries used in electromobility have an efficiency of below 100 % – the rest is emitted as heat. For batteries to operate for at least ten years without impairment, they must not be exposed to heat or extreme cold. Hence, if batteries are cooled down or heated up appropriately, their performance does not decrease and there is no damage as a result of too high or too low temperatures. This fundamental task of thermal management implies a great deal of development effort and inventive innovation spirit. Our result is a temperature control system ideally matching the battery and efficiently ensuring long service life of batteries in electric vehicles due to its flexible concept.
